MOLECULAR CELL PHYSIOLOGY (BIO 4454/5454) DNA ISOLATION LAB RESULTS

Results from the DNA Isolation Lab for the Spring 2010 semester are provided here.  There is one item that you will need for your lab report:

1.  Photograph of the agarose gel, showing bands for the LADDER (provided with molecular weight standards in units of base pairs) as well as DNA from onion samples.  Note that the DNA LADDER (BstE II digest of lambda, resolving numbers of base pairs in fragments) can vary (VARIATIONS OF LADDER) depending on the composition of the gel and how much time was used to resolve bands.    DNA gel results for the Spring 2010 Semester can be found here:  [DNAgel].

Note the following lane designations, which should be described for the gel:

Lane Number Sample Description
1 Standard (Ladder)
2 BLANK
3 BLANK
4 Group #2 DNA
5 Group #3 DNA
6 Group #4 DNA
7 Group #5 DNA
8 BLANK

You only need to include one gel picture in your lab report.  It needs to be imported into your report neatly, with each lane labeled and a figure legend included, just as you would expect to see in a peer-reviewed research article.
